Hotelschool's 80th Anniversary, Jubilee Conference

In 1929, at the initiative of the Horeca Employer's Organization, Hotelschool The Hague was founded. To celebrate the fact that in 2009 this was exactly 80 years ago, we organized several events.

 

Jubilee Conference 

On 13 November, a unique Jubilee Conference took place at the Steigenberger Kurhaus Hotel in Scheveningen. Theme of the conference was

"The Hospitality Industry in 2029"

 

Why was this conference unique? Because of the many international speakers who performed in The Netherlands for the first time and also because of the variety of the programme. Speakers like Sir Rocco Forte, Chairman and Chief Executive of The Rocco Forte Collection, Mr. Roeland Vos, President Europe, Africa, Middle East, Starwood Hotels & Resorts and Mr.Simon Vincent, President Hilton Europe gave their view on hospitality in 2029. They have examined the different trends and expectations in our field. Furthermore, also the present crisis has been discussed.

 

Why a 20-year perspective? In 2029 Hotelschool The Hague celebrates her centenary. The organization feels it would be interesting and challenging not to look ten years ahead, but twenty, because such a span of time requires creative and innovative thinking of the speakers; just extension of trends will not be sufficient.
