Sjoerd Dijkstra Foundation
-November 2008-The Sjoerd Dijkstra Foundation has handed out its first bursaries.
Two hotelschool students from the Czech Republic will follow the international programme at Hotelschool The Hague for two years. 'Through the Sjoerd Dijkstra Foundation these students can now also get to know this wonderful profession', says Mr Dijkstra. The first two lucky students are Tomas Kypet and Victor Spinka from the Czech Republic.
Eden founder Mr Dijkstra set up the foundation in November 2007 in order to offer young people good prospects of a successful career in the business in this 'wonderful profession of hotelier', as he likes to call it.
The board of the foundation is made up of Mr Dijkstra, Mr Kuijt, Director of two Amsterdam Eden hotels and restaurant FLO, and Mr Dooge, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hotelschool The Hague.
The goal of the foundation is to allow someone from a European or African country to follow the International Fast Track programme at Hotelschool The Hague each year. 'For many foreign students a bursary or loan is often the only possibility to study at a (professional) university outside their own country', according to Mr Dijkstra.
