Elena Marie Dick — Class of 2020
Senior Analyst, Feasibility & Investment Analysis | Hilton
Based in Singapore
After graduating from Hotelschool in the summer of 2020, Elena faced a tough job market due to the pandemic. With few opportunities available, she decided to pursue a Master’s in Real Estate.
Her first role after completing her studies was at JLL in Amsterdam, working in the valuations team on commercial properties such as offices and industrial buildings. It was a valuable learning experience, but something was missing.
Having done her final Hotelschool internship at Hilton’s London office, she reached out to her former manager after relocating to Singapore. That connection led her to her current role at Hilton’s regional office, where she works as a Senior Analyst in Feasibility & Investment Analysis.
Her team is responsible for the financial and market analysis of new Hilton developments across the APAC region, and one of her proudest milestones has been taking on responsibility as lead underwriter for key markets, including the Maldives, Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
"Don’t worry too much about your first job after Hotelschool. People switch careers so often. Just try something out, experiment a bit, and have fun."

What is your biggest takeaway from Hotelschool The Hague?
When reflecting on what stayed with her from Hotelschool, one thing stands out: "It sounds cliché, but I think people skills is the biggest thing I learned. I often think of these people skills in every situation of my life. Not just for your career, but also for your friends and relationships."
What advice would you give to current students?
"Don’t worry too much about your first job after Hotelschool. People switch careers so often. Just try something out, experiment a bit, and have fun. And enjoy Hotelschool. It’s the most fun period of time ever – make a lot of friends and just enjoy it."
