A smarter, more personal route to our Fast Track Programme

3 min read

At Hotelschool The Hague, we continuously refine the candidate journey to ensure it reflects both the expectations of today’s students and the realities of modern hospitality education. By listening closely to our vocational school partners and supporting our ambition to further expand internationally, we are pleased to introduce an updated and more personalised selection pathway for our Fast Track programme.

A tailored selection process for Fast Track candidates

With great pleasure, we announce that candidates applying for our 2,5-year Fast Track leading to a BA in Hospitality Management now follow a dedicated admissions route designed specifically for their background and experience.

The first step remains familiar: candidates apply via Studielink and submit the required documentation, including a motivation letter, CV, recent academic transcripts, an international English language certificate, proof of second language, and most importantly the exemption form. Based on this complete application file, the Exam Committee carefully assesses whether the candidate is eligible to join all other Hotelschool students returning from an internship in year two, thus following the Fast Track route.

This process ensures that every admitted student is well prepared to succeed at Hotelschool The Hague and to complete the programme within the accelerated timeframe.

From selection day to personal study check

As part of the updated pathway, Fast Track candidates are no longer required to attend an online or on-campus Selection Day. Instead, eligible applicants will be invited to a personal online Study Check.

This conversation focuses on the transition from vocational education and professional training to a university of applied sciences (HBO) level and will be with an experienced HTH lecturer plus a Fast Track alumnus or current Fast Track student. This allows HTH to better understand a candidate’s readiness, ambitions and learning needs, while helping candidates gain a clear picture of what to expect academically.

There are two possible outcomes of the Personal Study Check. In case of a negative result, candidates are given feedback on how to strengthen their application for next year. A positive result of the Personal Study Check takes a candidate through to the next key step: successfully complete Preparation Course in July and look forward to starting the Fast Track programme in August.

The Preparation Course: Your bridge to academic excellence

The four-week Preparation Course is an integral part of the Fast Track journey. Designed to support a smooth academic transition, it strengthens foundational knowledge in key subjects, such as Human Resources, Finance, Data Analytics, Leadership and English. All courses are taught entirely in English, creating an international classroom experience from day one.

Beyond academics, the Preparation Course plays an essential social role. International and Dutch students learn and live together in Skotel, building strong connections and cultural understanding. By the time Fast Track programme begins, students already have a close network and a strong sense of belonging from the very start.

High standards, strong support

The Preparation Course includes exams, taken throughout the four-week period. Each exam must be passed to demonstrate the required academic level. Our goal is clear: by the end of the course, every Fast Track student is fully aligned with the academic standards of Hotelschool The Hague.

The study load is intensive, which is why all students stay at Skotel, our student accommodation, throughout the Preparation Course. This residential experience supports focus, collaboration, and community. The key ingredients for success in a demanding programme.
