Joost de Vos
Joost de Vos is the Executive Chef at Hotelschool The Hague, renowned for his innovative approach to hospitality education and sustainable practices. His career includes earning a Michelin star in 2003 and has been marked by a deep commitment to inspiring the next generation of hospitality professionals. Since joining HTH in 2007, Joost has become a beacon of inspiration for students, sharing his expertise as a chef, licensed hunter, forager, and beekeeper.
His passion for mindful eating and sustainability is evident in the HTH ‘SENSE’ model, which encourages the creation of nutritious, sustainable menus.
Joost played a leading role in the highly sought-after ‘Future of Food’ course at Hotelschool The Hague, which has become central to the curriculum, drawing students interested in innovative food solutions and sustainability.
Beyond teaching, Joost was a driving force in developing the ‘STREATs’ charity food truck, a project that not only provides delicious meals but also serves as a platform for social change. This impactful project was ranked #3 in the European SDG Awards 2022.
Joost’s dedication to advancing his culinary knowledge led him to pioneer the ‘Gastronomical Herbalist’ program in 2019, a three-year course that delves into the health benefits and gastronomical applications of wild plants. Joost enjoys sharing his plant knowledge through workshops and lectures, which has also led to the start of EDEN, a gastronomical herb garden with locations in Rotterdam and The Hague.
