

Paul Roy
Paul Roy has been passionate about hospitality since he started working in the industry at just 14 years old. From humble beginnings washing dishes to learning the art of bartending and working in various kitchens across Dubai, London, Paris, and Amsterdam, Paul has gained a wealth of experience in every aspect of the food world.
Two years ago, Paul took a big step and co-founded Maijard Smashburgers with two childhood friends in Amsterdam. Focused on quality, simplicity, and local ingredients, Maijard Smashburgers quickly became a hit, expanding to three locations, including a production unit. Paul's leadership has been key in creating over 80 jobs and fostering a close-knit team atmosphere with an impressive 90% retention rate.
Paul is deeply committed to sustainability, implementing practices that have reduced food waste to just 1% and minimized food travel by 200,000 km by working with local suppliers. His philosophy is all about the “mono product” concept—perfecting one thing and doing it exceptionally well, like their signature smashburgers.
With a background rooted in family traditions of hospitality, Paul believes in creating memorable experiences through great food and strong community connections. He’s dedicated to making his restaurants not just a place to eat but a place where people feel at home.
