Savoy London
The Savoy Hotel in London was established in 1889 and is a symbol of extravagance and revolution. Founded by Richard D'Oyly Carte, the hotel was Britain's first hotel to be completely lit via electricity and had en-suite lavatories, setting a standard for unprecedented comfort and modernity. The Savoy quickly became the last word in glamour and sophistication after opening its doors more than a century ago.
One of London's most iconic hotels, The Savoy has entertained royalty, world leaders, and celebrities over its glittering history from Winston Churchill to Frank Sinatra. It is also iconic and associated in popular culture with the theatre and arts, particularly the Savoy Theatre and the works of Gilbert and Sullivan, which D'Oyly Carte also managed.
The Savoy is unique for its flawless integration of history and new modernity. Its meticulously protected Art Deco interiors are timeless and take guests back to the glamorous 1920s -30, coupled with modern luxuries to ensure maximum comfort. It also benefits from a Thames-side setting, which only adds to its appeal.
