Staff shortages have been an issue for hospitality businesses before and after the Covid-pandemic. During the crisis, many operational and managerial workers left hospitality. Attracted by improved salaries and working conditions offered by competing industries, the hospitality industry offers limited allure for returning workers. Moving forward the industry needs to carefully self-reflect on promoting the industry as recruitment destination to entice workers back. This requires industry stakeholders collaboratively improving working conditions across the industry. Prioritising guests, the industry continues disregarding its recruitment allure for returning and future workers.
