In 2012, the new building in Amsterdam, including Skotel, was opened at the Jan Evertsenstraat 171. Mrs Susanne Stolte became the President of Hotelschool The Hague. Furthermore, HTH received an ‘Excellent Accreditation’ by the Dutch Flemish Accreditation Committee. It was during this year, that 469 students started, of which 275 were female and 194 were male.
In 2013, HTH became founding partner of ‘Hotel Schools of Distinction’, the new website was launched and Hotelschool The Hague was ranked amongst ‘the top 5 Hospitality Management Schools in the World’ by TNS Global.
HTH counted more than 50 nationalities spread over both campuses during that year. Also the ‘Industry days’ were introduced to bring industry, students and employees together. In 2014, the new Master Programme was introduced, starting in September, in Amsterdam. It’s a 13-month, full-time English-language Master Programme which educates on learning to develop and implement new strategies, business models and innovative hospitality services from a “customer centricity” perspective. Students who complete the Master Programme successfully receive the degree of Master of Business Administration in Hospitality Management (MBA.HM).
Global Alumni Chapters were introduced, as a powerful networking platform for all alumni of Hotelschool The Hague. Nowadays, Alumni Chapters have already been established in Bali, Bangkok, Berlin, Curacao, Dubai, Dublin, London, New York, Oslo, Rotterdam, Sao Paulo, Shanghai, Singapore, Stockholm, Washington, Zurich and the latest ones opened in Beijing and Brussels. This is a great way for alumni to interact and network with those who find themselves in the same international cities worldwide.

HTH’s interest in online learning grows and launches the Hotelschool The Hague blended learning which represents the integration of online learning activities and traditional face-to-face (practical) education. The premise is that technology and education strengthen each other and ultimately improve the learning process.
Hotelschool The Hague continued its preparation for the implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation (AVG) on 25 May 2018 during the first half of 2018. Regine von Stieglitz was officially appointed president of the board of directors on 1 March 2018. She started working as director of operations and a member of the board of directors in August 2016. In April 2017, she was also appointed dean ad interim. In November 2019, we celebrated 90 years since we were founded by and for companies in the hospitality sector. Bachelor students were given the option of doing a pre-master as part of their bachelor course in the fourth year for the first time. The pre-master allows progress to master programmes at the University of Amsterdam’s (UvA) without following the specific UvA pre-master.
2020 will remain a memorable year for Hotelschool The Hague. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and for the first time in our 90-year existence, we were forced to temporarily close our Skotel and our buildings for education in March, and students had to cancel their internships. A switch to digital education was also made from one day to the next.
On a more positive note, the renovation of the building in Brusselselaan in The Hague started and there was even room in the budget for an extra sustainability investment of €1.8 million. The DiverseMinds platform was set up at the end of 2020, with the aim of making inclusivity in the broadest sense visible and open to discussion at HTH, and creating a safe study and work environment for all.
2020 also marks the establishment of I.F.S. Aurelius, the student association for fast track students. However due to COVID-19 restrictions, the association could not start its operation until 2022, and was officially launched in 2024.
In 2021, in addition to the enormous efforts to ensure education & research continues to thrive during the Covid-19 pandemic to proceed, a few major projects were completed: the renovation of the building in The Hague on Brusselselaan, the start of the funded Master Leading Hotel Transformation in September, the launch of our new website and brand refresh in order to give HTH an up to date look and feel.
In 2022, we participated in the Pilot Professional Doctorate (in the Leisure, Tourism and Hospitality domain) in collaboration with and under the coordination of the Center of Expertise Leisure, Tourism and Hospitality (CELTH). The new Technological Innovation in Hospitality lecturer was appointed in July 2022. The collaboration with TU Delft and RoboHouse to experiment and conduct research into the interaction between people and robots has taken further shape and has led to the organisation of the Hospitality Robotics conference in 2023.
We were proud to award the first batch of the MA Leading Hotel Transformation their diploma in September 2022. In 2023, a housing crisis culminated in the Netherlands and especially cities like Amsterdam and The Hague, partially due to the significant influx of international students. A political debated was in place, and Hotelschool The Hague, together with hotel management universities of Applied Sciences, strongly lobbied for the need of international students and English-taught programmes in the hospitality industry.
2024 marks the full rollout of the new curriculum. We are proud that amid a curriculum innovation, student satisfaction and study success have remained high, with the Bachelor's programme ranking first among public Hospitality Management programmes in The Netherlands (Keuzegids) for the tenth consecutive year.
This year also marks the 95th anniversary of Hotelschool The Hague. In honour of this anniversary we are launching HICONS: a list of the 95 most impactful people, products and companies in hospitality. Learn more here >
