Academic achievement

In order to apply to our Bachelor in Hospitality Management programme, candidates must have achieved an accredited high school diploma or equivalent.

English levels

Must be proficient enough for higher education studies. Official English language exam scores are required for all non-native speakers – or those who haven’t spent the last two years in full-time English education.

Our graduates enjoy a well-deserved reputation and are therefore highly sought after, both in the hospitality and international business communities. Our graduates go on to managerial positions in four- and five-star hospitality establishments around the world, or take on key roles in other areas of business including consultancy, finance and project management. Increasingly, our alumni become entrepreneurs both in the Netherlands and further afield, showing great initiative in social entrepreneurship, sustainability and innovation. As part of the curriculum, you will spend your first year of studies at Skotel. You will share a room with a fellow Year 1 classmate, a kitchen with a few more. For the following years, you will need to arrange your accommodation yourself. Hotelschool The Hague has partnered with HousingAnywhere to make sure you can book your room with priority and in complete safety. Only if you successfully find a room, a small booking fee will be charged. Sign up via this form, to receive priority access to all rooms available.

Our bachelor’s programme gives you the opportunity to gain valuable experience abroad through two different internships. In Year 2, you will work at operational level for at least 19 weeks in a full service hotel or in a Michelin star restaurant (within a hotel). The internship is a golden opportunity to broaden your horizons and immerse yourself in a different culture. Your second internship will take place at the end of your Bachelor. HTH students have the opportunity to apply for the Erasmus+ Programme, which is intended for students who go on placement within Europe and contributes to the extra travel and living costs abroad. Payment

If you have a SEPA bank account, you can give us permission for a direct debit payment to deduct the fees automatically from your bank account. This can be arranged via Studielink.

You can choose to pay your tuition fees in once, or in 10 instalments.

Tuition fee

As a student you will pay an annual tuition fee.
There are two different fees: the statutory fee and the institutional fee.
To be eligible for the statutory fee:

• You have an EEA, Swiss or Surinamese nationality/ or you are eligible for student finance with your Dutch residence permit
• You did not already obtain a Dutch Bachelor’s of Masters’s degree.

If you do not meet both conditions, you will pay the institutional fee.

Hotelschool The Hague has been successfully accredited with the distinctive feature of “small-scale and intense education by the NVAO (The Dutch-Flemish accreditation board) for its Bachelor programme. This means that HTH has been accredited by the NVAO on the following eight criteria: intended learning outcomes; relationship between the goal and the content of the programme; structure and didactic concept; intake; quality of staff; number of staff; available facilities, and level realised. This implies for example that the ratio of staff to students at HTH is higher than at most larger institutes of higher education, that the learning goals are more ambitious and that we have a sound selection procedure in place.

Based on this distinctive feature, Hotelschool The Hague is allowed to charge an additional tuition fee.

In addition to the tuition fees, there are other costs:

Skotel

The Skotel and catering practical forms an integral part of the curriculum. It is compulsory for students to stay at the Skotel (the training and study hotel) during the first year, either in Amsterdam or The Hague. The fee includes breakfast and one meal (lunch or dinner) per day on campus during 40 school weeks (excluding weekends) as well as access to the Internet for 45 weeks. After the first-year students are required to make their own accommodation arrangements.

Student expenditure for practicals

There are additional costs for uniforms and a knife set.

Study books

Books can be bought from the school’s supplier. Other lesson materials consist mainly of a course guide that contains important information for each course, such as the number of EC’s it provides, who the lecturers are, etc. Workbooks and manuals provide additional reading material to supplement the books. These course materials are available free of charge after your start on the school’s intranet: www.myhotelschool.nl.

NL Scholarship

The NL Scholarship is financed by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and Dutch research universities and universities of applied sciences. The scholarship is intended for international students from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) who want to do their bachelor's or master's in the Netherlands. EEA refers to EU countries plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. Nationals of Switzerland and Suriname are not eligible for this scholarship programme either.

Erasmus +

Erasmus+ is a programme funded by the European Commission aimed at providing people, especially students, the opportunity to develop their skills abroad. Hotelschool The Hague has been a proud holder of the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) of Erasmus+ for many years. Our students can apply for the Erasmus+ grant for their second and fourth-year internship or exchange programme.
