Once again this year, Hotelschool The Hague students are highly satisfied with their studies and feel safe at our university. Students rated the general atmosphere within your study programme at 4.17 out of 5. Students also rated questions related to wellbeing very positively. Overall, we are very proud to report that Hotelschool The Hague (HTH) again scored higher than last year, outperforming the national benchmark in all areas.
On 27 May 2026, the results of the National Student Survey (NSE) 2026 were published by the Landelijk Centrum Studiekeuze (National Centre for Study Choice). The NSE is a large-scale national survey in which all students in higher education in the Netherlands are invited to give their opinion on all aspects of their studies.
31% of the students at HTH completed the NSE this year. We would like to thank all students for their participation! Thanks to your opinions, we can work together to further shape the student experience at HTH.
What do these results tell us? What is going well and what could be improved?
As in previous years, HTH scores continue to rise. We see a clear increase across all three main indicators: overall experience with the study programme, the atmosphere within the programme, and whether students would choose the programme again.
What stands out is that students highly value the strong connection to their future careers. Students value the strong connection between HTH programmes and real-world practice. Compared with other universities of applied sciences, our students rate the extent to which HTH courses prepare them for professional careers above average.
We also see an increase in the score on student wellbeing. Students clearly know where to find support if needed and indicate that they appreciate the involvement and dedication of staff, as well as their genuine care for student wellbeing.

Where's room for improvement, according to HTH students?
As in previous years, the theme that students rate less positively is the possibility to personalise their course programme; this remains a point of attention.
We are working on providing more challenging and in-depth learning options within the programme, and a new honours programme is in development, which will give students to opportunity to accelerate.
What’s next?
We will continue the conversation with students and educational management to identify potential areas for improvement. The results of our recent alumni survey are also on their way; this will give us the opportunity to compare and understand the career paths of our graduates, and to assess how effectively our education connects to real-world practice and supports graduates in their professional development.
The NSE survey results are used for study choice information for potential students on studiekeuze123.nl, and also serve as a source for Elsevier's Best Studies and the Keuzegids HBO and Masters. In October we will inform you about these rankings.
